I truly believe that people come into our life for a reason.   Some may stay in your life for a while, some for a brief second, but there is a reason they come into your life.

Last year around November, I got an email from a lady in Berkley, California, asking me to take her portraits.  It was from this blog, TheTrailGirl.com, that she found me.  We arranged a date and she would travel to Boulder, Colorado and we would take same nature portraits.

She decided to take a risk, to trust me to take her portraits. She just beat breast cancer and realized that life is too short to let it pass her by.

We met at the Boulder Dushnanbe Tearoom.   Immediately, it was like I had reconnected with my long lost friend.   Uyen was so easy to talk with her and her zest for life is contagious.  She was completely authentic and real.   A few months later, she asked me to go to Hawaii to take her portraits there as well.

Here is to an amazing lady, who taught me that this time we have is too precious to waste a moment.   She reminded me to take chances, be bold, and ask for what I want.  Hopefully you can see from these photos her essence.  She is a pillar of strength and resilience with the lightness and ease of a butterfly.

Love you Uyen!
